WHO SHOULD APPLY

The institute aims to attract a diverse group of twenty-five participants engaged with the field of literary studies in higher education settings, including community colleges, tribal colleges, liberal arts colleges, comprehensive colleges, state colleges and universities, and research universities. Those with already-developed research and/or teaching interests in the works of Willa Cather are welcome to apply, but we also welcome applications from those new to Cather and with interests in related fields of teaching and research, such as ecocriticism, Western U.S. literature, settler colonial studies, and LGBTQ literature. As required by the NEH, at least five spaces will be reserved for non-tenured/non-tenure track faculty, and if there is sufficient interest, three spaces may be awarded to advanced graduate students.
